2023: Court Gives Ruling On Suit Seeking To Disqualify Tinubu

A case seeking to disqualify the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu from contesting the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria has been struck out by the court.

Naija News understands the case with suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/854/2022 was instituted by one Elder Ngozika Ihuoma before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

However, Justice Fadima Aminu Muritala while delivering judgment on the case, described the plaintiff, Elder Ihuoma as a “meddlesome interloper having no locus standi to institute the suit.”

Justice Muritala dismissed the case for being speculative.

The court ruling which dismissed the case against Tinubu was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by the Director, Media & Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga.

He added that apart from the current case, the courts had also dismissed several cases brought against Tinubu by opposition elements, including Action Alliance, for being frivolous, lacking in merit and abuse of court processes.

Onanuga pointed out that the case by Ihuoma is the fourth case to be dismissed by the courts in recent weeks.

Ihuoma dragged Tinubu and five others to court on 9 June, 2022 after the former Lagos Governor won the APC presidential primary election and among other grounds, wanted the court to issue an order instructing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to bar Tinubu from contesting the 2023 presidential election.

The court on Monday however struck out the case after listening to the argument of all parties involved.
