Police Arrest Man Producing ‘Bulletproof’ For Terrorists In Katsina

The Katsina State command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of a man making bulletproof charms for terrorists in the state.

The security agency said it arrested the 53-year-old man on November 26, 2022, following a tip-off.

The resident of Maiduguri road in Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state is helping the police with more information on terrorists and criminals terrorizing the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, the state police command spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah, said the suspect has confessed to helping terrorists with the bulletproof charm which he also transports to other terrorists and criminals in Zamfara and Kaduna State for N60,000 per piece.

He added that the suspect was arrested with four bulletproof charms enveloped in jackets.

The suspect, according to Isah, also confessed that he offered prayers regularly for bandits for successful operations against being arrested or harmed by security agents.

Reports on Wednesday said special forces had killed the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi Al-Qurayshi.

The terrorist group media affiliate al-Furqan confirmed this to newsmen on Wednesday in an audio recording.

“I announce and mourn for the Islamic State and the fighters of almighty Islamic State, (the absence) of the Amir of believers and the Calipha of the Muslims Abu al-Hasan al-Hashmi al-Qurayshi. He was killed while struggling against the enemies of God,” the group’s spokesman, Abu Omar al-Muhajer said.

Naija News understands that only a few details about al-Qurayshi’s death were made available. However, the United States National Security Council coordinator, John Kirby, has reacted to the development.

“We certainly welcome the news of the death of another ISIS leader. I don’t have any additional operational details to provide (at) this time. We’re still working our way through that,” Kirby said.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that the group immediately announced Abu al-Husain al-Husaini al-Quraishi as its new leader.
