Suspected Terrorists Kill Nigerian Military Officer

Gunmen suspected to be bandit terrorists have killed a military officer identified as Nathaniel Dem Danjuma Dawa.

Reports said the gallant officer was killed by the assailants last Tuesday.

He was said to be on his way to Abuja when the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle he was travelling in.

This military officer, Nathaniel Dem Danjuma Dawa, elder brother to my good friend and priest, Rev Fr Bitrus Dawa was killed by bandits on his way to Abuja,” a family friend of the deceased, Emmanuel Zakka, told newsmen.

May his soul rest in peace and may God comfort and console the family.

“My friend, may God be present in your hearts in this time of grief,” SaharaReporters quoted the source as he prayed for the family of the deceased.

A Niger State High Court sitting in Minna on Thursday ordered the arrest of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Faruk Yahaya, for disobeying a court order.

Justice Halima Abdulmalik said the order followed upon hearing the motion on notice brought before the court pursuant to order forty-two rule ten of the Niger State High Court Civil procedure 2018.

The presiding judge also ruled that the Commandant Training and Doctrine Command in Minna, Major General Olugbenga Olabanji, should be arrested for the same offence, Naija News reports.

Justice Abdulmalik ruled that the order is commuting Yahaya and Olabanji to be kept in Minna correctional custody for contentions of the order of this court on 12 October 2022.

The judge ruled that the two suspects are to remain in custody until they purge themselves of contempt.

Justice Abdulmalik, therefore, adjourned the case to December 8 for continuation.
